As an Occupational therapist for over 40 years, I am well versed in recognizing competent home health care professionals. It was very clear, when we chose Cara Care home health care agency to help us take care of my parents that we chose well. Principle owner, Lydia Madden, is professional, responsive, and proactive and always placed the health and welfare of my parents as her highest priority. We had a team of professional aids who were regularly scheduled and very familiar with my parent’s health concerns. They loved my parents and we loved them all in return. Daily notes are recorded each shift and we were always apprised of any changes, positive or negative in a timely manner. There is nothing more important than knowing that our parent’s health and welfare was as important to these professionals as it was to us. I have encountered many Home Health Aides and agencies as a rehab OT. To this day, The Cara Care agency is the only home health agency that I recommend.

I only wish we had found Lydia and her wonderful team at Cara Care earlier! I believe it would have allowed my father to safely stay in his home for a longer time. But luckily, Cara Care was able to quickly fill a sudden, unexpected hole in my dad’s care plan.
As Dad’s cognitive issues worsened, we knew we needed to move him from his assisted living apartment into a memory care unit. However, as we waited for an available spot in his future residence, Dad began wandering off during the overnight hours. The assisted living nurses suggested companion care for Dad and recommended Cara Care.
This was the missing piece - and peace - for our family. Lydia matched Dad with four caregivers who provided overnight and early morning care through the week. I wasn’t sure how my father would adjust to this schedule, but to my surprise, the transition went smoothly. Lydia chose caregivers who were kind, attentive and very patient with my father. His sleep improved, as did his overall disposition. The team kept us up-to-date on his care and offered suggestions on ways to improve Dad’s comfort. The caregivers communicated with Lydia regularly and logged daily notes to each other in a journal they kept at my dad’s apartment. This ensured continuity of care, not only among themselves, but for my family, who could quickly scan their notes and get up to speed while visiting my dad during the day.
I will always be grateful to Lydia and Cara Care for the amazing care and companionship they gave to my father during this stressful time. It’s difficult when you can’t be there 24/7 for your loved one. But when you have Cara Care in your corner, it feels like family.

I live out of state and unexpectedly had to take responsibility of a blind aunt with advanced dementia and an uncle with declining mental and physical health (both now deceased). They needed 24 hour care. Cara Care was a godsend to me. The caregivers were kind, dependable and experienced. They took my aunt and uncle for outings and doctor appointments and one staff member cut and styled my aunt's hair better than a salon. I felt that they truly cared about my family. Cara Care was an enormous help to our family. Lydia was easy to work with and readily available. She coordinated coverage seamlessly. My mother was very reluctant to have people come into her home but the ladies quickly won her over. They took her to social events with her friends and appointments as well as providing physical care, meals and light housekeeping. She really enjoyed their company. We were all working full-time and it was stressful trying to provide coverage. Three of us are nurses and we could not have found better caregivers for our mom. We wish we had found Cara Care sooner.
